Welcome to Poarta Neamului!

About Poarta Neamului

Poarta Neamului (Gateway of the People) is a tourist complex and adventure hub in central-northwest Moldova. Visitors can enjoy traditional food made from grandma’s recipes cooked in the wood oven, a small museum, camping grounds, retreat space, souvenir shop, cooking classes, a large garden area, and more. The heart of Poarta Neamului is the 100-year old family house that has been lovingly renovated and restored over the years together with the large surrounding garden and outdoor space.

Located in Temeuti village in Calarasi district just 65 km from Chisinau, Poarta Neamului is in a perfect location for nature, adventure and culture lovers. The tourist complex is situated very close to a picturesque lake, Temeleuți Landscape Reserve, Plaiul Fagului Reserve, Balanesti Hill (2.3 km away), and the Sipoteni hiking and cycling routes. The hilly landscape of this area makes for beautiful hikes and walks, with panoramic views over the countryside and forest.

Very important to Poarta Neamului and the founding family is the preservation of Moldovan traditions, the restoration of old country homes, the celebration of rural culture and supporting local communities. You can see these values reflected through the different projects and services undertaken at Poarta Neamului, from cooking classes that use grandma’s recipes to highlighting local artisans in the souvenir shop to creating a museum to conserve and pass on local rural cultural heritage.

We look forward to welcoming you soon to Poarta Neamului, your gateway to discover culture, nature, and authentic Moldova.
